Why Coal Region Connections for a business name?

My son, Kristopher Marek, came up with the idea.

He knows I take great pride being born, raised, & having lived my entire life in the coal region of Northeast Pennsylvania – an area rich in cultural heritage & ethnic diversity.

Many of the clients I consult have parents, grandparents, & great-grandparents who immigrated to this country to work in the anthracite coal mines.

Do you do interviews with the media?

Yes.

Although my schedule is usually quite busy, I’m always happy to make time for interviews with the media – especially if I can help provide valuable marketing insights to local businesses, non-profit organizations, & political campaign managers.

Where are you located?

Coal Region Connections is based in Andreas, PA (West Penn Township to be exact) – between Tamaqua & Lehighton at the foothills of the Poconos.

In what parts of northeastern Pennsylvania do you provide your marketing, advertising, & media buying services?

We work with businesses, non-profit organizations, & political campaign managers throughout the Coal Region of northeastern Pennsylvania including: Schuylkill, Carbon, Luzerne, Lackawanna, & Northumberland counties.

However, we will consider working with clients in Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, & Monroe counties on a case-by-case basis depending on our schedule. This may necessitate an extra travel fee to the client’s destination.

Do you offer any discounts when working with local non-profit organizations?

Although I am very reluctant about discounting our fees because of the high value we bring to our clients – I do support local non-profits & will consider lowering our fees on an individual case by case basis.

What is your son’s involvement with Coal Region Connections?

My son, Kristopher Marek, played a significant role in helping me start this business.

Because he lives in sunny south Florida, runs his own business, & works as a direct marketing strategist & direct-response copywriter with several high-paying private clients (when he’s not too busy lounging around the pool) – his role at Coal Region Connections is that of a “behind-the-scenes” advisor.

However… he may send out value-added emails, & get on conference calls with our business, non-profit, & political clients from time to time.

Additionally, he may stop in to visit & provide consultations with select clients when he visits the area 3-4 times a year.

Why do you use the “&” symbol instead of typing “and” when writing?

Three reasons…

First – Because it is a long-time habit I got into when I learned how to type. I don’t always, use it – but, as you know, old habits are hard to break!

Second – Because when I worked in radio, I had to create labels (which had limited space) for the radio commercials I produced. Since the labels were small, using symbols instead of words came in handy…

Third – Because it drives my son nuts.
